Social Networking: A purposeful of loss of Privacy

Hi all!
Welcome to my blog! As for the term project, I will be doing the research on the loss of privacy of social networking.
Social networking has has grown rapidly over these years. Either it's peosonal or business, it has incorporated in all the platforms. But is it safe to lay out all your information like that on these sites? Employers can easily view your page and change their mind after looking at your page.
Nowadays, businesses do their marketing on facebook and all the other networking sites, and some people are not even aware that the companies can easily pull their information like phone numbers from their site if they do not change their privacy setting. After launching Orkut, Google launched a networking site and called it "google buzz" and they had a lot of privacy issues. People who have emailed in past were able to follow each other and their profiles were open in public. Social networking is fun, cool and interesting- but like everything has it's pros and cons, social networking also has its downsides. Therefore, I am very much excited about this project and expect to learn much out of it.

  2. In adding to your points i would also like to add that people are so careless that they don’t even use their privacy settings in order to prevent the identity theft. It has been a dangerous platform for identity theft.

  3. I also heard that employers can check the applicants' walls and profiles on Facebook in some ways before they actually interview.
